After graduating from the University of Oregon in 1999 with a degree in linguistics, I received a scholarship to study Thai at Chiang Mai University, and have remained in Thailand ever since.
My images have been published in magazines, newspapers, books and websites including www.bbc.com, Bon Appétit, Chile Pepper, CNN Travel, Condé Nast Traveler, DestinAsian, Insight Guides, Lonely Planet Magazine, Lucky Peach, the New York Times, Olive, Saveur, www.time.com, Travel + Leisure Southeast Asia, VICE Munchies, The Wall Street Journal Asia and the Washington Post.
In 2008, I held an exhibition titled "The Last Chinatown", at Bangkok's Kathmandu Photo Gallery.
In 2013, I took the photos for Andy Ricker's Pok Pok: Food and Stories from the Streets, Homes, and Roadside Restaurants of Thailand (Ten Speed Press).
In 2015, I held an exhibition titled "Ancient Roots and Culinary Crossroads: The Food of Northern Thailand", at the Tamarind Hotel, Chiang Mai, Thailand.
In 2017, I took the photos for Andy Ricker's second book, The Drinking Food of Thailand (Ten Speed Press); I will also do the photos for his upcoming book on noodle dishes.
Late 2018 saw the release of The Food of Northern Thailand (Clarkson Potter), which I wrote and photographed.
I write and photograph for Lonely Planet and have contributed text and photos to more than 20 guidebooks and trade books.
