Thanks to my boy A-Dog, who, unbeknownst to me, is apparently also “one of America‚Äôs foremost experts on Thai grilling“, I was alerted that Portland, Oregon has yet again been making the media rounds. There’s a lengthy and fun New York Times piece about the city, the previously referenced Food & Wine article about Andy’s restaurant, Pok Pok, and a mention of the same restaurant in GQ City Guides’ Portland writeup. Well done, Andy and Portland.

Addendum: This Oregonian article describes Andy’s new Portland restaurant, Ping.

Hi Austin,

Re your Bangladesh visit, here is a story I read http://www.thedailystar.net/newDesign/photo_gallery.php?pid=87560

about a Bangkok restaurant serving absolutely authentic home-cooked Bangladeshi meals. It is named MONIKA’S KITCHEN and operated by a lady from Bangladesh who had brought her daughter to Bangkok to be treated for burns that covered 70% of her body.Terrible story. I do hope you can make it there and tell us how the food is.

Wanna say something?
