After graduating from the University of Oregon in 1999 with a degree in linguistics, I received a scholarship to study Thai at Chiang Mai University, and have remained in Thailand ever since. My images and writing have been published in magazines, newspapers, books and websites including Allas Veckotidning, appetite, Bangkok Post,, bon appetit, Chile Pepper,, Conde Nast Traveler, DestinAsian, Food & Travel, Gastro, Insight Guides, Intermezzo,, Lonely Planet Magazine, Mad og Bolig, Monocle, The Nation, Olive, Orient-Express, Saveur, Sawasdee, SilkWinds, SilverKris, ThaiDay,, Travel + Leisure Southeast Asia, The Wall Street Journal Asia and the Washington Post.

I contribute photos to the Lonely Planet Images collection at Getty Images.

In 2008 I held an exhibition titled “The Last Chinatown” at Bangkok’s Kathmandu Photo Gallery.

In 2012 I did the photos for a book project, to be published in late 2013 by Ten Speed Press, of recipes from the Portland, Oregon and New York City restaurant, Pok Pok.

I write for Lonely Planet and have contributed text and photos to more than 20 guidebooks and coffee table books.
