How did you find a place to rent? Did you find it on the web or upon arriving?

That's fantastic, congratulations! I can't wait to check out the guide when it comes out. The dining section is sure to get a significant boost.

Try Le Vendome French restaurant. The steak - local, but properly butchered, so not tough - is fab. I cheekily asked for 'bleu', & the waiter didn't even blink - that's what I got! And the prices are not too high. It was recommended to me as the best French restaurant by a French expat, & I have to agree. It's in a nice old bungalow, about 10 minutes from the fountain.

Also, the local organic 'fair trade' coffee beans are well worth trying. They even have Blue Mountain.

I've been an avid reader of your blog and will be keeping my eyes out for any posts while in Laos. I haven't been back since immigrating to the US and would be interested in places you travel, people you meet, overall atmosphere and impression. I'd be interested in lodging recommendations also. Keep it up!

If you are in Laos that long, you should really get in touch with some locals and ask for tips. The food recommendations in LP are pretty poor and out of date.
